Hey everyone,
Some of you might be seeing a weird “Your version of Windows has reached the end of service” message on your Windows 11 machines, even if you know you’re all updated. It’s a bit of a pain, but it seems to be a glitch that’s making the rounds. It can be confusing when you think your system is current.
This is often because of a bug in a recent Windows update that causes the system to incorrectly report that you’re out of date. The good news is, there are a few ways to tackle this.
Method 1: Wait for Microsoft’s Server-Side Fix
Microsoft is already aware of this, and they’re rolling out a fix on their end that should take care of it automatically. You won’t need to do too much on your part.
-
Make sure your computer is connected to the internet so it can grab the update from Microsoft.
-
Just let it sit for a couple of hours, and this fix should work its way to your system.
While it’s updating, it’s best not to mess around with your settings too much as the issue should resolve itself.
Method 2: Manually Check for Updates
Another way to go is to force a check for updates manually. Sometimes this nudges the system to recognize that you actually are up to date.
-
Go to Settings. You can get there by clicking the Start button and selecting the Settings gear icon, or by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard.
-
In the Settings window, find Windows Update in the left-hand menu.
-
Click on the Check for updates button to see if there’s anything waiting to be installed.
-
If any updates are available, click Download and install to get them on your system.
After the updates are installed, you might need to restart. Once you’re back up, see if the error has gone away.
Method 3: Log Out and Restart Your System
Sometimes, a simple restart can do the trick, clearing out any minor system issues that might be causing that pesky notification.
-
Make sure you’ve saved your work and closed any open applications to avoid losing anything.
-
Click on the Start button, and then the Power icon.
-
Select Restart from the options to reboot your computer.
Once your machine has restarted, give it a look and see if that message is still hanging around.
Hopefully, one of these approaches gets rid of that incorrect “end of service” notification.
