Method 1: Collaborative Quiz Show Creation in Google Classroom
Challenging your students to collaboratively create a quiz show using the Flippity Quiz Show template can be a very effective method for review and engagement.
Step 1: Remove the existing questions and answers from the template.
Step 2: Replace the default category titles with topics relevant to your curriculum.
Step 3: Distribute the template via Google Classroom, selecting the Students can edit
option. This allows all students to access and modify the same spreadsheet.
Step 4: Assign groups of students to specific categories.
Method 2: Creating Flippity Activities
Step 1: Edit the spreadsheet by customizing with your own content. For example, in this quiz show example, you can change the category titles and remove all of the questions and answers to get the spreadsheet ready to assign to kids in Classroom.
Tip: Avoid making any changes to the blue fields, these are typically column A and row 1.
Step 2: Publish the spreadsheet to the web.
From the File
menu, choose File -> Publish to the Web -> Click the Publish Button
.
Step 3: Get the link by clicking on the Get Link Here
tab at the bottom of the file.
The link will appear once you have published the spreadsheet. This is your custom link that will bring you to your Flippity activity / resource.
Flippity and Google Classroom Integration
One effective approach is to use the Quiz Show template. If you have experience creating Jeopardy games using PowerPoint templates, then you know it’s a very time-consuming process, but the end result is something that kids really love.
The act of pinpointing key information for the game, alongside finding accurate answers, reinforces learning. Since the game is accessible via a web link, students can practice and review at home, fostering responsibility and engagement.
