Messaging can sometimes feel a bit dull, especially when you’re trying to send some good wishes. iMessage has some cool effects that can make your messages way more fun. Want to add some excitement when congratulating someone? How about sending a virtual confetti shower? Here’s how you can do it.
Method 1: Automatic Confetti with Trigger Words
iMessage has a neat trick that many users don’t know about. Certain words trigger special effects automatically. For confetti, try sending “Congratulations,” “Congrats,” or “Felicitations”. Make sure these words are the only words in the message (you can include punctuation or an emoji), and send. Confetti will burst onto the screen automatically!
This also works in other languages! For instance, try “Selamat” in Indonesian or “Felicidades” in Spanish. See if you can find other translations that work.
Method 2: Manually Adding Confetti to Any Message
While the automatic trigger is awesome, it’s not very flexible. If you want to send confetti along with another message, here’s how to add it manually:
-
Type your message as usual.
-
Tap and hold the blue send arrow. This will open the ‘Send with Effects’ screen.
- Tap the ‘Screen’ tab to switch from bubble effects to screen effects.
- Swipe left until you reach the Confetti effect, which is the fourth one. You’ll swipe three times. Then, tap the ‘Send’ button.
The recipient will see a full screen of confetti when they open your message, adding a little celebration to their day!
Besides confetti, iMessage also has other cool screen effects like echo, balloons, fireworks, lasers, spotlight, heart, shooting stars, and celebration. Each effect has its own special words that can trigger it. Don’t be afraid to try out new effects and keep things interesting. You can check out this link for more info on trigger words.
