Need to guide someone to your exact spot? Sharing your location on iMessage is super handy and way more reliable than trying to explain it! This guide will show you a few ways to do it, each with its own perks.
Method 1: Quick Location Share using Phrase
This is probably the fastest way to share your location.
- Open the iMessage conversation with the person you want to share your location with.
- In the message field, just type “I’m at” followed by a space.
- Above your keyboard, you’ll see a predictive text suggestion that says
Current Location
. Tap on it.
- Your location will be sent instantly. No need to manually type or send “I’m at.”
Make sure predictive text is turned on! To check, go to Settings
> General
> Keyboard
and toggle Predictive
on.
Method 2: Sharing Location Through Contact Info
This method is useful when you also want to share your location for a longer duration.
- Open your Messages app and go to the conversation with the person you want to share with.
- Tap the contact’s name or photo at the top of the screen.
- Tap the
Info
option.
- You will see two location options. Tap
Send My Current Location
to send a snapshot of your location.
- To share your real-time location, tap
Share My Location
.
- You will then see options to share for one hour, until the end of day, or indefinitely. Choose how long you want to share.
Method 3: Using Google Maps in iMessage
If you prefer Google Maps, you can send your location directly from there within iMessage.
- Make sure you have the Google Maps app installed on your iPhone.
- Go to the iMessage conversation where you want to share.
- In the app bar above the keyboard (where you find icons like the App Store icon), swipe until you see the
Google Maps
icon. You might need to add it if you don’t see it.
- Tap the
Google Maps
icon to open it in the iMessage window. It will find your location.
- Tap
Send
button to insert the location into your message.
- Finally, tap the send button in iMessage to share your location.
Adding Google Maps to the App Bar
If the Google Maps icon isn’t there:
- In the app bar, scroll to the far right and tap the “More” icon (three dots).
- Tap
Edit
in the upper right corner.
- Find
Google Maps
in the list and toggle it on to add it to your app bar.
And there you have it – three ways to share your location via iMessage on your iPhone!
