Set up daily changing wallpapers with Windows 11 spotlight

Windows 11 now offers a fantastic feature that automatically updates your desktop background with stunning photographs from around the globe. The Windows Spotlight feature delivers professional-quality images directly to your desktop, refreshing your workspace automatically.

Setting up Windows spotlight backgrounds

  1. Launch Windows Settings by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard, or find Settings in your Start menu.

  1. Navigate to the Personalization section in the left sidebar.

  1. Select Background from the available options.

  1. Look for the background settings dropdown menu under Personalize your background.

  1. Choose Windows Spotlight from the dropdown menu.

Important: Make sure your Windows 11 system has all recent updates installed to access this feature.

Your desktop will immediately display a Spotlight image. A small camera icon will appear in the top-right corner of your screen, offering additional functionality:

  1. Double-click the camera icon to view detailed information about the current image through Bing.

  1. Right-click the camera icon to access more options:

Available options include:

  • Open: Access detailed information about the current wallpaper
  • Switch to next picture: Manually change to a different Spotlight image
  • I like this picture: Help Windows understand your preferences
  • Not a fan of this picture: Skip similar images in future selections
