Windows 11 now offers a fantastic feature that automatically updates your desktop background with stunning photographs from around the globe. The Windows Spotlight feature delivers professional-quality images directly to your desktop, refreshing your workspace automatically.
Setting up Windows spotlight backgrounds
- Launch Windows Settings by pressing
Windows + I
on your keyboard, or find Settings in your Start menu.
- Navigate to the
Personalization
section in the left sidebar.
- Select
Background
from the available options.
- Look for the background settings dropdown menu under
Personalize your background
.
- Choose
Windows Spotlight
from the dropdown menu.
Important: Make sure your Windows 11 system has all recent updates installed to access this feature.
Your desktop will immediately display a Spotlight image. A small camera icon will appear in the top-right corner of your screen, offering additional functionality:
- Double-click the camera icon to view detailed information about the current image through Bing.
- Right-click the camera icon to access more options:
Available options include:
- Open: Access detailed information about the current wallpaper
- Switch to next picture: Manually change to a different Spotlight image
- I like this picture: Help Windows understand your preferences
- Not a fan of this picture: Skip similar images in future selections
