Restore Chrome Tabs After Accidental Close

Ever accidentally closed your Chrome window and lost a bunch of open tabs? It’s super annoying, especially if you were in the middle of something important. But don’t worry, getting those tabs back is easier than you think! There are a few ways to do it, and they’re all pretty straightforward.

Method 1: Using Keyboard Shortcuts

The quickest way to bring back your closed window with all tabs is by using a keyboard shortcut. If you’re on Windows, just press Ctrl + Shift + T, and if you’re on a Mac, use Shift + Cmd + T. It’s like magic – your window will pop right back up with all your tabs.

Method 2: Reopening via the Kebab Menu

If you’re not a fan of keyboard shortcuts, or if they fail you for some reason, here is another method. Chrome makes it simple to restore closed tabs with just a few clicks.

  1. Open your Chrome browser. On the top right, you will find the kebab menu (three vertical dots). Click on it, then hover over the “History” option.
  2. A submenu will appear. Now, hover over the option that shows the number of tabs you recently closed.
  3. From the expanded menu, select the “Restore Window” option. All your closed tabs will magically reappear!

Method 3: Restore Tabs Using Browser History

If the previous method doesn’t work for some reason, you can always try using the browser history to find and restore your tabs.

  1. From the Chrome home screen, click on the kebab menu (three vertical dots) and hover over the “History” option. Then, click on the “History” tile in the submenu. This will open a separate tab in Chrome. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + H (for Windows) or Cmd + Y (for Mac) for quick access.
  2. In the history tab, find the recently closed websites. Click on each one to open them individually.

Always Restore Tabs on Startup

If you frequently encounter accidental closure of your browser, Chrome has an option to restore your previous tabs every time it opens. Here is how you can activate it.

  1. Go to the kebab menu (three vertical dots) on the Chrome home screen and select “Settings.” This will open the Settings page in a new tab.
  2. In the settings menu, find and select the “On startup” tab on the left sidebar.
  3. Under “On startup,” select the radio button next to “Continue where you left off.”

Now, Chrome will automatically reopen all your tabs from the last session each time you open the browser.

Keep in mind that these methods will not work if you were browsing in incognito mode.
