Web Threat Shield is supposed to keep you safe online, but sometimes it can cause issues with Microsoft Edge. It might slow things down or clash with other programs. If you’re having problems, removing or disabling this extension might help your browser work better.
Method 1: Removing Directly From Toolbar
- First, fire up your Microsoft Edge browser.
- If you see the Web Threat Shield icon next to the address bar, give it a right-click.
- A menu should pop up, select ‘Remove from Microsoft Edge’.
Method 2: Removing From Extensions Menu
- If you don’t see the icon in the toolbar, no worries. Click on the ‘Extensions’ icon (it looks like a puzzle piece) on the right side of the address bar. This will show you all your installed extensions.
- In the list of extensions, find ‘Web Threat Shield’. Click the three dots (ellipsis) next to it.
- From the menu that appears, choose ‘Remove from Microsoft Edge’.
- A confirmation box will ask if you’re sure. Click ‘Remove’ to confirm.
Method 3: Temporarily Disabling the Extension
- If you’d rather just disable Web Threat Shield temporarily, click ‘Manage Extensions’ from the extensions menu (puzzle piece icon).
- Find ‘Web Threat Shield’ in the ‘Extensions’ tab, and toggle the switch next to it to the off position. This disables the extension without uninstalling it.
After following these steps, Web Threat Shield will either be removed or disabled from Microsoft Edge.
Managing your browser extensions lets you tweak how Microsoft Edge works for you. Whether you choose to remove or disable Web Threat Shield, these steps give you the control you need.
