POCO F7 Series Pushes Performance Boundaries with Latest Snapdragon Chips

POCO has unveiled its new F7 series smartphones, aiming to deliver flagship-level performance at more accessible price points. The F7 Ultra and F7 Pro models pack the latest Snapdragon processors along with advanced cooling systems and high-refresh rate displays. Let’s take a closer look at what these new devices bring to the table.

F7 Ultra: A Performance Powerhouse

The F7 Ultra sits at the top of POCO’s new lineup, featuring Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This 3nm processor delivers substantial performance gains over previous generations, with POCO claiming up to 45% faster CPU speeds and 44% improved GPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

To complement the raw horsepower, POCO has included its first custom graphics chip - the VisionBoost D7. This dedicated silicon aims to enhance gaming and video playback through features like:

  • 120 FPS frame interpolation for smoother gameplay
  • 2K super resolution upscaling
  • Dynamic HDR adjustment

The VisionBoost chip allows the F7 Ultra to maintain 120 FPS at 2K resolution in demanding games like Genshin Impact for extended play sessions.

LiquidCool 4.0: Keeping Things Chill

All that performance potential would be wasted if thermal throttling kicked in too quickly. POCO’s answer is the LiquidCool Technology 4.0 system, which utilizes:

  • A 3D dual-channel heat dissipation design
  • An oversized 5,400 mm² vapor chamber
  • Aerospace-grade thermal materials

POCO claims this setup can reduce SoC temperatures by up to 3°C compared to previous cooling solutions, allowing for sustained peak performance.

Flagship-grade Display

The F7 Ultra sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with some impressive specs:

  • 2K (3200 x 1440) resolution
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • 1800 nits typical brightness (3200 nits peak)
  • 12-bit color depth
  • Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support

POCO has opted for its own “POCO Shield Glass” protection, which they claim offers improved durability compared to more common solutions like Gorilla Glass.

Fast Charging, Inside and Out

Keeping the F7 Ultra powered is a 5,300 mAh battery supporting 120W wired fast charging. POCO states this can fully charge the device in about 34 minutes. There’s also 50W wireless charging support - a first for the F series.

F7 Pro: Balancing Performance and Value

While the Ultra model pushes boundaries, the F7 Pro aims for a more balanced approach:

  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset (non-Elite version)
  • 6.67-inch 2K 120Hz AMOLED display
  • 6,000 mAh battery with 90W wired charging
  • No wireless charging

The F7 Pro still benefits from POCO’s LiquidCool Technology 4.0 and runs the same HyperOS 2.0 software (based on Android 15) as its Ultra sibling.

Camera Capabilities

Both F7 models feature a similar primary camera setup:

  • 50MP main sensor with OIS
  • 50MP telephoto (F7 Ultra) / 8MP ultra-wide (F7 Pro)
  • 32MP ultra-wide (F7 Ultra only)

POCO has introduced its AISP (AI Image Signal Processor) to enhance computational photography capabilities across both devices.

Pricing and Availability

The POCO F7 series is set to launch globally, with the following pricing structure:

F7 Ultra:

  • 12GB + 256GB: $649
  • 16GB + 512GB: $699

F7 Pro:

  • 12GB + 256GB: $499
  • 12GB + 512GB: $549

Early bird discounts of $50 are available for a limited time on all configurations.

The POCO F7 series demonstrates how the lines between flagship and upper mid-range devices continue to blur. While they may not match every feature of the absolute top-tier smartphones, these devices bring seriously impressive performance and specs at much more attractive price points.
