OnePlus Watch 3 Aims to Outshine Galaxy Watch Ultra with Superior Battery Life

Wear OS has experienced significant growth in popularity after collaboration with Google. Now, more manufacturers are developing smartwatches based on Wear OS. OnePlus is among these brands, aiming to surpass a flagship smartwatch in at least one key area.

OnePlus Watch 3 Boasts Extended Battery Life

The upcoming OnePlus Watch 3 will feature a 631mAh “Silicon NanoStack Battery,” an upgrade from the 500mAh battery in the OnePlus Watch 2.

The company claims this new battery technology will provide up to 5 days (120 hours) of battery life in Smart Mode and an impressive 16 days in Power Save Mode. This claim doubles the battery performance estimates for a competitor’s Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The competitor estimates their Galaxy Watch Ultra can achieve up to 60 hours in regular mode and 100 hours when using power-saving features.

This enhanced battery life is primarily due to the dual-processor configuration utilized by OnePlus in their smartwatches. The OnePlus Watch 3 leverages two distinct processors: the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 and the Bestechnic BES2800.

The Snapdragon W5 handles active smartwatch usage, while the BES2800 MCU (manufactured using a 6nm process) manages tasks during sleep mode or periods of low activity. However, this design might occasionally cause minor delays when waking the watch from sleep mode during demanding operations.

Furthermore, the OnePlus Watch 3 incorporates a titanium hybrid alloy for its bezels, stainless steel for the main frame, and Sapphire Crystal for display protection. It also includes the standard array of sensors commonly found in modern smartwatches.

The upcoming smartwatch is slated for release in Canada, European markets, and the United States on February 18. Pricing details are still pending but are expected to be similar to the OnePlus Watch 2 (approximately $300).
