Minecraft 1.21.60 is live, bringing a host of experimental features to the Overworld for testing. This update includes new pig variants, falling tree leaves, an easier Lodestone crafting recipe, and numerous bug fixes. Here’s a look at what’s new in Minecraft 1.21.60.
Minecraft 1.21.60: New Pig Variants
Mojang has added two new pig variants to the game: Warm and Cold pigs. These variants have distinct textures and appearances based on their spawning biomes.
Warm pigs spawn in Savanna, Jungles, and Badlands biomes, while Cold pigs appear in Taiga, Windswept Hills, and Forest biomes. The original pink pigs are now called Temperate pigs and spawn in Forests, Swamps, and Plains.
Following the addition of Wolf Variants, the introduction of new pig species suggests more animal variations might be coming in future updates.
New Leaf Particles and Lodestone Crafting Changes
The Minecraft 1.21.60 update introduces leaf particles for all leaf blocks in the Overworld.
The feature is available for these blocks:
-
Oak Leaves.
-
Jungle Leaves.
-
Acacia Leaves.
-
Dark Oak Leaves.
-
Spruce Leaves.
-
Mangrove Leaves.
-
Birch Leaves.
-
Azalea Leaves.
-
Flowering Azalea Leaves.
Lodestones now have a new crafting recipe that doesn’t require Netherite. The Pale Garden biome has also been updated to cover larger areas and can surround Woodland Mansions. Flower patches and pumpkins spawn with a much larger area in their respective locations.
Other minor changes include narration in the realms plan picker, audio adjustments, and improved collision detection for moving blocks.
To test these features, enable the Drop 1 2025 option in the Experiments column.
Crafting a Lodestone
Crafting a Lodestone allows you to create a fixed point for your compass, preventing you from getting lost.
Method 1: Using Chiseled Stone Bricks
The easiest way to get a Lodestone is by using Chiseled Stone Bricks
Step 1: Gather the necessary materials: 8 Chiseled Stone Bricks and 1 Iron Ingot.
Step 2: Open your crafting table.
Step 3: Place the Iron Ingot in the center slot of the crafting grid.
Step 4: Fill the remaining 8 slots with Chiseled Stone Bricks. The arrangement should have the Iron Ingot in the middle, surrounded by the Stone Bricks.
Step 5: Take the Lodestone from the output slot.
Method 2: Using Netherite
This method is not recommended because of how hard it is to get netherite.
Step 1: Gather the necessary materials: 1 Netherite Ingot and 8 Stone Bricks.
Step 2: Open your crafting table.
Step 3: Place the Netherite Ingot in the center slot of the crafting grid.
Step 4: Fill the remaining 8 slots with Stone Bricks. The arrangement should have the Netherite Ingot in the middle, surrounded by the Stone Bricks.
Step 5: Take the Lodestone from the output slot.
These are the new features of Minecraft 1.21.60; test them out by enabling the Drop 1 2025 experiment option and share your feedback!
