Shopping online is super convenient, but constantly entering your payment info can be a real drag. Microsoft Edge Wallet is here to fix that, letting you store your details securely right in your browser.
Edge has been able to save payment cards for a while now, but the new ‘Wallet’ interface makes everything much smoother. Let’s take a look at how it all works.
What’s the Edge Wallet All About?
Edge is a great browser for online shoppers, packed with features like coupons, price comparisons, and price history to help you save a few bucks. The Wallet takes things up a notch, letting you manage all your payment methods without needing any extra extensions.
Note: Microsoft is rolling out the new Wallet gradually, so it may not be everywhere yet. If you see the redesigned interface, you’ve got the full feature set.
The Wallet lets you store your debit and credit cards, which makes online checkouts much quicker. You can choose to save your payment methods locally on your device or sync them with your Microsoft Account, so they are available on all your devices.
Security is super important when dealing with payment details. When you add a card, your details – name, card number, expiration, and billing address – are validated securely. The CVV is used only for this validation and isn’t stored by Microsoft.
Plus, the Wallet can recognize your card issuer and show you any available coupons and discounts. It can even apply these automatically at checkout, boosting your savings. You might also get cashback on eligible purchases via Bing Rebates.
All your deals and recommendations are in one place. For extra security, the Wallet has a Virtual Cards feature that generates single-use card details for each purchase.
Note: Even if you have the Wallet page, features like Bing Rebates, syncing with your Microsoft Account, and Virtual Cards may not be available in your location.
Basically, Microsoft Edge Wallet is designed to make your shopping faster, safer, and cheaper.
How to use Microsoft Edge Wallet
Okay, let’s get to the practical stuff. Here’s how to get started with the Edge Wallet:
Method 1: Using Browser Settings
-
Launch Microsoft Edge and hit the “Settings and more” icon – the three dots in the upper right.
-
From the dropdown, select “Settings”.
-
In the settings sidebar, click on “Payment info”.
-
Click the “Go to Wallet” link.
Method 2: Direct Access
- Alternatively, you can go straight to the Wallet by typing
edge://wallet
into the address bar and pressing Enter.
The Wallet home page is a central spot where you can see your Microsoft Rewards and Cashback, manage payment methods and memberships, and keep tabs on your password security using the Password Manager.
To use all of the Wallet’s features, you need to enable the option to save and autofill payment details. If you’re using a third-party password manager in Edge, you might need to disable or remove it first.
-
In the left sidebar of the Wallet page, select “Settings”.
-
Turn on the toggle for “Save and fill payment info”.
If you want to keep your cards only on your current device, you can stop here. To sync your payment info across all your devices with your Microsoft Account, enable “Automatically save payment info”. If you want the option to decide for each card, leave this toggle off and select sync individually when adding cards.
With these settings set up, you’re ready to add your debit and credit cards to the Wallet for easy checkouts. For a deeper dive on adding a card, check out this guide: How to Add a Credit Card to Microsoft Edge Wallet
Edge keeps getting better with features like the Wallet. It’s definitely becoming a strong browser contender with its focus on integrating useful tools.
