Mobile gamers seeking enhanced performance will appreciate the new frame rate control options within the Game Launcher app and Game Booster in One UI 7, especially on devices like the Galaxy S25 series which boasts the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and improved cooling. These options provide more granular control over refresh rates, allowing for smoother gameplay and optimized battery usage.
Customizing Refresh Rates for Individual Games
One UI 7’s Game Booster offers the ability to limit the refresh rate on a per-game basis, replacing the older, less flexible 48Hz limiter. This allows users to fine-tune performance and battery consumption for specific titles.
Step 1: Open the Game Launcher app and access the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Go to Game Booster
.
Step 3: Select Customizations for individual games
.
Step 4: Choose the game for which you want to limit the frame rate.
Step 5: Select FPS
and drag the slider to the desired refresh rate (20, 30, 40, 50, or 60Hz).
Adjusting Global Gaming Motion Smoothness
An additional option, “Gaming motion smoothness,” allows users to select between 120Hz and 60Hz modes. This setting affects games that do not have their own built-in refresh rate options. Note that if a game doesn’t inherently support 120Hz, selecting this option in Game Booster will not force it to run at that refresh rate.
Step 1: Open the Game Launcher app.
Step 2: Tap the three-dot menu button in the upper-right corner.
Step 3: Access Game Booster
from the drop-down list.
Step 4: Go to Gaming motion smoothness
.
Step 5: Choose between 120Hz
and 60Hz
.
These new settings are currently available on devices running One UI 7, such as the Galaxy S25 series. The Galaxy S24 may also have access through the One UI 7 beta program. As One UI 7 rolls out to more devices, more users will be able to take advantage of these performance enhancements.
With One UI 7’s Game Booster, mobile gamers gain unprecedented control over frame rates, allowing them to optimize their gaming experience based on individual game requirements and personal preferences.
