Ever wanted to play a quick game of connect four with your buddies directly through iMessage? You can do just that by using the GamePigeon app. This lets you play a digital version of “Four in a Row”, perfect for a bit of strategic fun during downtime. While “Four in a Row” isn’t a standalone app on the iMessage store, it comes as part of the GamePigeon app, which contains tons of other games too.

The goal in ‘Four in a Row’ is simple: be the first to connect four of your colored pieces in a row, whether vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, while also trying to stop your opponent from doing the same. Downloading the GamePigeon app from iMessage App Store

To get started, you need to download the GamePigeon app, which includes “Four in a Row” along with many other games.

1. Launch the Messages app on your iPhone, either from your home screen or the app library.

Starting a game of four in a row

After you and your friend both have GamePigeon, you can start playing “Four in a Row” together.

1. Launch the Messages app and select the conversation with the person you want to play with.
   
   
2. In the app bar above the keyboard, scroll until you find the GamePigeon icon and tap it to see the available games.
   
   
3. Choose the “Four in a Row” game from the list.
   
   
4. Add an optional message, then hit the Send button to invite them to play.
   
   

Once your contact accepts the invite, they can tap on the game to take their turn. Players take turns placing their colored pieces, trying to get four in a row and also blocking their opponent.

5. When it’s your turn, tap on the column to drop your piece. You can also press and hold to drag the piece across the grid. Once you’ve chosen your position, tap Send.

Adjusting sound and music settings

If you prefer not to have music or sounds while playing, you can easily change these options in the game’s settings.

1. During your turn in “Four in a Row”, tap the gear icon in the bottom right corner.
   
   
2. Tap the Music button to toggle the music on or off and use the Sound button to do the same for sound effects.
