Enhancements to File Explorer and More in Windows 11 KB5050092 Update

Microsoft has released the KB5050092 update for Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2, bringing several improvements, most notably to File Explorer and the Magnifier app.

Direct Sharing to Apps from File Explorer

The most efficient way to share files directly to apps is now available in File Explorer. This feature allows users to share files to applications that support Windows sharing.

Other File Explorer Improvements

The File Explorer update introduces a New Folder option in the left pane’s right-click menu. It also addresses issues such as unwanted search repetition, incorrect date and time properties after copying files, icons not updating when switching themes, and the search box losing focus during input.

Magnifier App Updates

Microsoft has added a new keyboard shortcut (CTRL+ALT+Minus) to toggle zoom in the Magnifier app. Buttons to reset the zoom to fit the screen or your preferred magnification are also included in this update.

Cross-Device File Access

Microsoft now allows you to seamlessly continue working on files from your iOS or Android phone on your PC, even when the PC is locked. This is possible by signing in within five minutes. This functionality supports Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and PDF files, provided you are signed in to OneDrive and your PC with the same Microsoft account.

Other Updates

The Redmond tech giant also shipped an update for the 24H2 its most AI-friendly version, and brought the new Outlook app to Windows 10 despite the OS approaching its end-of-support cycle in October.

With the KB5050092 update, Microsoft continues to refine the Windows 11 experience, focusing on enhanced usability and cross-device integration.
