Okay, so pop-ups on your iPhone can be a real headache, right? They’re annoying on a computer, but it’s a whole other level of frustration when they pop up on a smaller screen. iPhones automatically block them, which is great most of the time. But sometimes, this pop-up blocking can stop a website from working correctly.
Many sites, especially banking and financial ones, rely on pop-ups. If you are taking tests or exams online, those sites often use them, too.
While we can all agree that relying on pop-ups isn’t the best design, the fact is, sometimes you need to allow them for certain websites to work. The good news is, it’s pretty easy to allow pop-ups on your iPhone.
Method 1: Allowing Pop-Ups in Safari
If you’re an Apple Safari user, here’s how to turn those pop-ups back on:
- Open your iPhone’s Settings app and scroll down until you find “Safari,” then tap it.
- Look under the ‘General’ settings and find the ‘Block Pop-ups’ option. Tap the toggle to switch it off so it’s no longer green.
That’s it! Safari will now allow pop-ups on every website you visit.
Method 2: Allowing Pop-Ups in Chrome
If you’re using Google Chrome as your browser, the process is slightly different. Here’s how to do it:
- Open the Chrome app on your iPhone. Then, go to the three-dot “More” menu at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- In the menu that pops up, select “Settings”.
- Scroll down in settings and tap on “Content Settings”.
- Select “Block Pop-ups” to open those settings.
- Tap the toggle to turn off “Block Pop-ups” so it’s no longer blue.
- Finally, tap “Done” in the top right-hand corner.
Chrome will now let those pop-ups through on any sites you visit.
It’s worth noting that it’s usually best to only disable pop-up blocking temporarily. Once you’re done with the site requiring pop-ups, it’s a good idea to switch the blocking back on, or you’ll be getting pop-ups everywhere.
