Hey everyone,
iOS 15 brought some cool updates to FaceTime, including the much-requested Grid View for group calls. No more awkward, uneven tiles – now everyone gets equal space on the screen! It’s a game changer for seeing all your friends and family at once.
Important Note: This feature was initially part of a beta program and might be subject to change, but it’s widely available now.
Enable Grid View in FaceTime on iPhone
To get started, you’ll need to be in a Group FaceTime call. Here’s how to both start a group call and enable the grid view.
-
Launch the FaceTime app from your iPhone’s home screen.
-
Tap on the ‘New FaceTime’ button.
-
Add the people you want to include in your group FaceTime call by tapping the ‘+’ button.
-
Tap the ‘FaceTime’ button at the bottom to start your group call.
-
Once the call starts, tap ‘Join’, usually at the top-right, and then tap the ‘FaceTime’ name at the top left.
-
Finally, tap ‘Grid Layout’ to activate the grid view!
Note: You only need to do this once. Grid view will stay enabled for future calls.
Enable Grid View in FaceTime on Android
Apple has thankfully extended grid view to our Android buddies as well! Here’s how to enable it after you’ve joined a FaceTime call:
-
After joining the FaceTime call on your Android, tap the ‘More’ icon (usually three dots) in the top right corner.
-
Tap the ‘Grid Layout’ button, and then hit ‘Done’ in the top left.
And that’s it! Your FaceTime calls on Android will now show everyone in the grid view.
Enable Grid View in FaceTime on Windows
If you’re joining a FaceTime call from a Windows computer, here’s what you need to do:
-
Click the FaceTime link you’ve received, or paste it into your browser.
-
Enter your name and click ‘Continue’.
-
Give FaceTime permission to access your camera and microphone by clicking ‘Allow’.
-
Click ‘Join’ to enter the call.
-
Once joined, click the ‘More’ icon (three dots) situated below the ‘Leave’ button.
-
Finally, click ‘Grid Layout’ and then ‘Done’.
Now your Windows FaceTime calls will display everyone in a clear grid!
