Google’s search suggestions can be handy, but sometimes those trending searches just get in the way, right? If you’re finding them more of an annoyance than a help, you’re definitely not alone. Good news, there’s a way to turn them off, no matter what device you’re using.
Method 1: Disabling Trending Searches on Desktop
This is often the quickest method, especially if you’re usually on your computer.
-
Open Chrome on your computer.
-
Click the three vertical dots (the “kebab menu”) in the top right corner of your browser, and then click on ‘Settings’.
-
In the Settings menu, find and click ‘Sync and Google services’ located under the ‘You and Google’ section.
-
Scroll down to ‘Other Google services’ and find ‘Autocomplete searches and URLs’. Toggle the switch to the ‘Off’ position.
Method 2: Disabling Trending Searches on Android
If you’re primarily browsing on your phone, this is the method you’ll use most often.
-
Launch the Chrome app on your Android device.
-
Tap on your profile picture, located at the top of your screen.
-
Under the ‘You and Google’ section, tap on ‘Google services’.
-
Locate ‘Autocomplete searches and URLs’ and switch the toggle to the ‘Off’ position.
Method 3: Disabling Trending Searches on iOS
This method is really straightforward and takes just a few quick taps.
-
Open the Chrome app on your iOS device.
-
Tap on your profile picture, which is located on the top right corner.
-
Scroll down and locate ‘Autocomplete searches and URLs’. Toggle the switch to the ‘Off’ position.
Now you should be free from those pesky trending searches when you go to type something in the search bar.
