Ever find yourself wrestling with Word docs, trying to get rid of those pesky blank pages or whole pages of content? It can be frustrating, but don’t worry, here’s a straightforward guide to tackle this issue.
Method 1: Deleting a Page with Content
If you have a page full of stuff you want to nuke, this method is super efficient.
-
Place your cursor anywhere on the page you want to delete.
-
Hit
CTRL + G
to bring up the ‘Go To’ dialog box. -
In the “Enter page number” field, type
\page
and then click on ‘Go To’. This will select everything on that page.
-
Close the ‘Go To’ dialog box.
-
Press the
Delete
key, and voila, the page and all its contents will be gone.
-
You can check that the page is gone by looking at the page count in the lower left corner of your Word window.
Method 2: Deleting a Blank Page
Blank pages can be tricky because they often sneak in from paragraph marks and page breaks. Here’s how to handle them:
-
Start by displaying paragraph marks so you can see the hidden formatting symbols causing the blank page. Click on the
¶
symbol in the ‘Home’ tab.
-
Now, go to the blank page. You’ll notice these formatting symbols that are making the page exist.
-
Select all the paragraph marks on the blank page. To do this efficiently, drag from left to right or double-click each mark, as you can’t select them with a right-to-left drag.
-
Hit the
Delete
key. The blank page should vanish from your document.
You should now have a cleaner Word document. If you have other Word document challenges, feel free to share them!
