Clearing Out Chrome Bookmarks

Bookmarks are super useful for saving those must-visit pages, but sometimes they can pile up with links you don’t need anymore. If you’re looking to declutter, there are multiple ways to delete those saved sites on Chrome, whether you’re on your computer or phone. Here’s how you can do it:

Removing Bookmarks on Chrome Desktop

The desktop version of Chrome provides several methods to get rid of bookmarks, so you can clean up one by one, or in larger groups. You can even remove a bookmarked page while viewing it.

Removing the Bookmark From an Open Page

If you’re looking at a page you’ve already bookmarked, or maybe bookmarked it by accident, you can remove it directly.

Click the filled star icon on the right side of the address bar. Then just hit the “Remove” button to delete the bookmark.

Deleting Specific Bookmarks Using the Bookmark Manager

To find a specific bookmark and remove it, the Bookmarks Manager is your friend.

  1. Click the three dots (kebab menu) icon, hover over “Bookmarks”, then click “Bookmarks Manager”.

  1. Alternatively, you can go straight to the bookmarks page by typing chrome://bookmarks in your address bar.

  1. Use the search bar to locate the bookmark you want. Once you find it, click on the three dots icon next to the search result.

Deleting Multiple Bookmarks At Once

Bookmarks are usually saved in folders, so it’s easy to remove a whole folder at once. However, this needs to be done folder by folder.

  1. Go to the ‘Bookmarks Manager’ using the three dots (kebab menu) in the top right corner.

  1. Then, right-click on any folder you wish to get rid of, and hit the ‘Delete’ option.

Removing Bookmarks on Chrome Mobile

Just like on desktop, removing bookmarks on mobile is a simple task.

Removing Bookmarks for a Website That Is Currently Open

If you have a bookmarked page open, here’s how to remove it:

  1. Tap on the three dots (ellipsis) menu icon.

  1. Tap on ‘Edit bookmark’. This opens a small window.

  1. Then, tap on the ‘Delete’ option at the bottom.

Removing a Specific Bookmark

To delete a single bookmark from your list, here’s how:

  1. On the Chrome home page, tap the three dots (ellipsis) menu.

  1. Then, tap the ‘Bookmarks’ icon.

  1. Tap the search bar, and type in the bookmark’s name you want to get rid of. In the results, tap and hold on the bookmark.

  1. Tap the ‘Delete’ option.

Removing Bookmarks in Bulk

If you want to delete multiple bookmarks or folders at once, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the three dots (ellipsis) menu on the Chrome home page.

  1. Tap on the ‘Bookmarks’ option.

  1. Tap on the ‘Edit’ option in the bottom right corner.

  1. Select the folders you want to delete by tapping on their listings. You can select all or just specific ones. Then, tap the ‘Delete’ button.

That’s all there is to it! You can now delete any bookmarks on Chrome that you no longer need.
