Canva’s latest update, the “Glow Up” feature, has left many users feeling more frustrated than dazzled. As a long-time Canva enthusiast, I was initially thrilled to see a new feature. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I realized there was no way to opt out.
Picture this: You’re on a tight deadline, coffee in hand, ready to create some stunning graphics. You open Canva, only to be greeted by an endless loading screen. When it finally decides to cooperate, you’re met with a redesigned interface that’s more style than substance. It’s like trying to drive a sports car with square wheels - sure, it looks cool, but good luck getting anywhere.
The most infuriating part? There’s no way to turn it off. I’ve scoured every corner of the internet looking for a solution, and I’m not alone. Countless users are asking the same question: “Where’s the off switch?”
Here’s the kicker - there used to be one! During the beta testing phase, there was a toggle in the account settings that allowed users to opt out. But now? It’s vanished without a trace.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for progress. But progress should enhance functionality, not hinder it. Right now, using Canva feels like being stuck in a beautiful, but incredibly slow, elevator.
So, Canva, if you’re listening, here’s a humble request: Bring back the off switch. Let us choose when we want to glow up. Until then, I’ll be here, watching my loading screen and dreaming of simpler times when my biggest worry was choosing between slightly different shades of blue.
To my fellow designers: How are you coping with the “Glow Up”? Have you found any workarounds? Let’s commiserate and brainstorm solutions together!
