While some smartphone manufacturers are pushing charging speeds beyond 100W, Samsung has maintained a 45W fast charging capability for its Galaxy phones. The Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra offer a charging enhancement that many users may not be aware of.
Utilizing 45W Charging with the Included Cable
The most convenient method is to utilize the in-box USB cable. The Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra support 45W (Super Fast Charging 2.0) using the USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable included in the box.
Step 1: Ensure you are using the USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable that came with your Galaxy S25+ or Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Step 2: Connect the cable to a USB PD PPS charger that supports 45W charging.
Step 3: Plug the cable into your Galaxy S25+ or Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung’s latest flagship phones now support charging at 15V and 3A, delivering a total power of 45W. This means they support Super Fast Charging 2.0 with the bundled 3A cable, eliminating the need to purchase a separate 5A cable to achieve 45W fast charging.
Understanding Charging Capabilities
Previously, older Galaxy phones (such as the Galaxy S24) could only achieve 25W charging with the included 3A cable; 45W charging required a 5A cable (10V and 4.5A). This is no longer the case for the S25+ and S25 Ultra.
Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra users can now use any USB PD PPS charger that supports 45W charging with the bundled 3A USB cable. This saves time and money, as there is no need to search for and purchase a 5A cable.
With 45W fast charging, the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra can charge up to 75% in approximately 30 minutes and reach 100% within about 60 minutes (1 hour).
The charging upgrade for the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra simplifies the fast charging process by supporting 45W charging with the in-box cable. This enhancement offers convenience and cost savings to users.
