Turn off Windows 11 suggested actions permanently

Windows 11’s suggested actions feature automatically shows prompts when you copy dates, phone numbers, or times. These pop-ups offer quick actions like creating calendar events or starting calls. While some users find this helpful, others consider it intrusive. Here’s how to completely disable this feature using two different approaches.

Method 1: Using Windows settings

This is the safest and most straightforward way to disable suggested actions.

  1. Launch Settings through the Start Menu or press Windows+I on your keyboard

  1. Navigate to the System section from the left navigation panel

  1. Scroll down and select Clipboard from the system options

  1. Find the Suggested Actions toggle switch and turn it to the Off position

The changes take effect immediately - no system restart required. Windows will stop showing action suggestions when you copy content.

Method 2: Registry editor modification

Use this method only if the Settings approach doesn’t work. Exercise caution when editing the registry as incorrect changes can cause system issues.

  1. Open Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Start menu search and selecting the Registry Editor app

  1. Copy and paste this path into the registry address bar:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SmartActionPlatform\SmartClipboard

  1. Look for the Disabled value in the right panel and double-click it

  1. Set the Value data to 0 and click OK

  1. Restart your computer to apply the changes

After implementing either method, Windows 11 will stop displaying suggested actions when you copy content to your clipboard.
