Stop unwanted Windows 11 notifications permanently

Windows 11 comes with various notification features to keep users informed about system events and app activities. Among these, the ‘Suggested’ notifications aim to guide users through Windows features, but many users find them unnecessary and distracting. This guide shows you how to disable these notifications and customize your notification preferences.

Turn off suggested notifications

  1. Access Settings by clicking the Settings icon in your Start Menu’s pinned apps section, or use the keyboard shortcut Windows + I.

  1. Select the System tab from the left navigation panel.

  1. Navigate to the Notifications section by clicking it in the right panel.

  1. Scroll to find and expand Additional settings at the bottom of the page.

  2. Uncheck both “Get tips and suggestions when I use Windows” and “Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows and finish setting up this device” options.

Manage all notification settings

For complete control over your notifications, you can either disable them entirely or customize them per app.

  1. Launch Settings using the Start Menu or Windows + I shortcut.

  1. Navigate to the System section.

  1. Select Notifications from the options.

  1. Toggle off the main Notifications switch to disable all system notifications.

Customize app-specific notifications

  1. Scroll to “Notifications from apps and other senders” in the Notifications settings.

  2. Locate and select the app you want to modify.

  1. Switch off notifications for the selected app using the toggle.

Each app offers additional customization options like notification sounds, banner visibility, and priority settings to match your preferences.
