Removing a Google Account from Chrome

Having a Google account linked to Chrome is super handy for keeping your browsing data synced across all your devices. But sometimes, you need to remove an account, like when switching devices or managing multiple profiles. Here’s how to do it on both your desktop and phone.

Method 1: Removing a Google Account from Chrome on Desktop

To kick things off on your computer, first, fire up Chrome and look for your profile icon in the top-right corner. This could be your profile picture or just your initials. If you don’t see anything there, it means you’re not signed in with a Google account yet.

Next, click on that profile icon to open up the Chrome profile menu, and then click the little ‘Settings’ cog next to “Other profiles”.

You’ll see a list of all your Chrome profiles here. Find the one you want to remove, and click on the three dots (ellipsis) at the top-right of that profile.

A small menu will pop up. Select ‘Delete’ from this menu.

You’ll get a confirmation box that will tell you what data will be removed. Just hit ‘Delete’ at the bottom-right to confirm that you want to remove both the profile and the Google account associated with it.

You can follow this process to remove other profiles too, whether or not they are tied to a Google account.

Method 2: Removing a Google Account from Chrome on iPhone and Android

If you’re on your phone, start by opening up the Chrome app, and then tap on your profile picture or initials up in the top-right corner.

You’ll see all the Google accounts you’re logged into Chrome with. Tap on the one that you’re looking to remove.

A box will appear at the bottom, and you’ll want to tap on ‘Remove account from this device’.

Finally, a confirmation pop-up will appear. Tap ‘Remove’ to finalize the process. Remember, any saved data for that account will be gone if you haven’t made a backup!

That’s all there is to it! Removing a Google account from Chrome is pretty quick and easy on both desktop and mobile. Just keep in mind that when you remove an account, you might lose some of the convenience Chrome offers. So, it’s usually best to remove an account only when you really need to.
