iPhone Sticker Purge - Removing Stickers on iOS 17

Having a ton of stickers in iOS 17 can get messy fast, especially if you’ve got some you don’t even use anymore. Luckily, it’s pretty straightforward to clean things up. Here’s how to delete live stickers you’ve made from photos, and how to get rid of entire sticker apps.

Removing Live Stickers Created from Photos

If you’ve made custom stickers from your photos and need to clean them up, here’s how you do it:

Quick tip: To remove a live sticker, head to the Messages app, open any chat, tap the ‘+’ button beside the text field, select ‘Stickers’, then long-press the sticker you want to get rid of, and select ‘Delete’.

  1. First things first, open the Messages app on your iPhone.

  2. Start a new message or open an existing conversation. Tap the ‘+’ symbol next to where you type your messages to open the iMessage app drawer.

  1. In the app drawer, find and tap the Stickers option.

  1. Look for the Live Stickers section within the stickers menu. This is where your photo-based stickers live.

  1. Find the specific live sticker you’re looking to remove. Press and hold down on it. You’ll see it enlarge a little and a pop-up menu appear.

  1. Tap Delete from that menu to remove the sticker.

The sticker will vanish with a small animation. Keep in mind that once a sticker is deleted, it’s gone for good.

Removing Sticker Apps

Sometimes, sticker packs come bundled with other apps. If you’re looking to remove those stickers, you’ll have to remove the app itself. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. In the sticker area of your Messages app, swipe all the way to the right until you see the Edit button and tap it.

  1. This opens the Manage Sticker Apps menu. Tap the Edit button at the top left of your screen.

  1. Find the app whose stickers you want to remove and tap the red - button next to it.

  1. A Delete button will pop up on the right side of the app listing; tap it.

  1. A pop-up will appear to confirm your choice. Tap Delete to remove the app and its stickers, or Cancel if you change your mind.

The app, along with its sticker pack, will be removed from your iPhone.

Keep in mind that you can’t just hide stickers from an app without deleting the entire app, which can be annoying if you like using the app for other stuff.

That’s all there is to it! With these steps, you should be able to get your Messages sticker collection under control.
