Blockchain domains give you full control over your digital addresses, cutting out the need for centralized organizations like ICANN. They make crypto interactions simpler by linking easy-to-remember names to complicated crypto wallet addresses. Unfortunately, browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Edge don’t natively support blockchain domains. But don’t worry, with a few tweaks, you can get your browser to access these decentralized domains easily.
Enabling Blockchain Domains in Chrome
To get blockchain domains working in Chrome, you can either adjust the DNS settings or install an extension. Let’s start with tweaking the DNS settings, as it’s a more robust method.
Method 1: Changing DNS Settings in Chrome
Adjusting Chrome’s DNS settings allows you to access blockchain domains directly, without having to rely on extensions that may not always be available.
- Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top right. Then, click on Settings.
- In the Settings, on the left menu, click on Privacy and security.
- Under Privacy and security, select Security.
- Scroll down to the Advanced section, where you’ll find Use secure DNS.
- Choose With and select Custom. In the text box that shows up, paste in this URL:
https://resolver.unstoppable.io/dns-query
6. Close the Settings tab. Now you can access blockchain domains in Chrome. Remember to add a forward slash
/
at the end of the domain to bypass Google search. For example, to go to kyber.crypto
, type kyber.crypto/
in the address bar and hit Enter.Method 2: Using the ‘Unstoppable Extension’
Alternatively, you can use the ‘Unstoppable Extension’ from the Chrome Web Store to enable blockchain domain access.
- Go to the Chrome Web Store at chrome.google.com/webstore and search for
Unstoppable Extension
, or just use this link
- On the extension page, click on Add to Chrome to install it.
- A dialog box will pop up. Click on Add extension to confirm.
- After it’s installed, the Unstoppable Extension is enabled. Just type the blockchain domain directly into Chrome’s address bar.
You should see that the blockchain domain redirects to its associated hexadecimal crypto address.
Enabling Blockchain Domains in Firefox
For Firefox, you can enable access to blockchain domains by changing the browser’s DNS settings.
- Open Firefox and click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top right, then select Options.
- At the bottom of the Options page, find the Network Settings section, and click Settings…
- In the Connection Settings, scroll down and check the box next to Enable DNS over HTTPS.
- Click the dropdown next to Use Provider and select Custom.
- In the Custom text box, paste this URL:
https://resolver.unstoppable.io/dns-query
6. Click OK to save. Now you can access blockchain domains by typing the domain into the address bar, making sure you add a forward slash /
at the end.
Enabling Blockchain Domains in Microsoft Edge
For Microsoft Edge, similar to Chrome and Firefox, you can enable blockchain domain access by adjusting the DNS settings.
- Open Edge and click the three-dot menu in the top right. From the menu, select Settings.
- In the Settings page, on the left side, click on Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll down to the Security section. Under Use secure DNS to specify how to lookup the network address for websites, select Choose a service provider.
- In the text box that shows up, enter this URL:
https://resolver.unstoppable.io/dns-query
5. Close the Settings tab. Now, you can access blockchain domains in Edge by typing the domain into the address bar, and add a forward slash
/
at the end.
For example, if you want to visit kyber.crypto
, type kyber.crypto/
in the address bar and press Enter.
By setting up your browser’s settings this way, you can easily access blockchain domains in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, unlocking a wider range of interactions with decentralized web resources.
