Ascendant Challenges in Destiny 2 are intertwined with the Dreaming City’s curse, a three-week time loop affecting the region.
The curse’s intensity varies weekly, offering opportunities for treasure hunting within the Ascendant Plane. There are six Ascendant Challenges, each rotating weekly. Completing these challenges is a reliable way to obtain Dreaming City gear, including reissued versions of weapons like Waking Vigil, Tigerspite, and Twilight Oath.
Completing an Ascendant Challenge awards Legendary gear. An extra drop is available via Petra Venj’s weekly bounty. These bounties are also suitable for stacking. Consume a Tincture of Queensfoil (purchased from Petra Venj or found in Dreaming City chests) to access the Ascendant Challenge.
Each Ascendant Challenge has a specific entrance point, which remains consistent even when the challenge rotates back into the weekly schedule.

How to complete Ouroborea Ascendant Challenge
Step 1: Go to the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector in The Strand.
Step 2: Complete the Lost Sector normally.
Step 3: Look for the Ascendant Portal above the slope, near the end of the Lost Sector, and jump into it to enter the Ascendant Plane.
Step 4: Destroy the Taken Blights in the Ascendant Plane; their locations are identifiable by their glow.
Step 5: Destroy the crystals to finish the challenge.
Ways to get Dreaming City gear
Dreaming City gear received updates with Season of the Wish, making the weapons more relevant.
Petra Venj’s Bounties
Petra offers a weekly bounty for completing the Ascendant Challenge. Completing this bounty awards an extra piece of gear. She also offers a bounty that costs Dark Fragments and grants an Offering to the Oracle. Taking this offering to the Oracle in the Spine of Keres will grant an extra drop. When the curse is strongest, you can visit Queen Mara Sov’s throne room.
Daily Bounties
Check Petra’s bounties daily for an objective that awards gear. Completing eight daily bounties and Petra’s weekly quest will yield Dreaming City gear if you purchase the objectives.
